Collective Worship

Here at St Ursuline's, we are an Ursuline school founded by the Ursuline Sisters. Our moto is SERVIAM which means ‘ I will serve’. As an Ursuline community we do our utmost to live this put each day in our school, local community and the wider world by putting our faith into action.

We have a full-time chaplain to serve the needs of the community, staff and students, and to develop the prayer life and Ursuline charism of the school. We also have year 11 Chaplaincy prefects and a Chaplaincy team in each year group who work with the Chaplain to support the spiritual and pastoral life of students and their families. The Chaplain also works to support the staff in their work with students and to encourage students in their own spiritual development.

Each morning in registration students take part in a form of collective worship, whether this be in assembly or in their form groups following the structure below. Each day students are asked to lead and take part and once a week it is planned and led by the students.

Each lesson at St Ursula’s begins with our school prayer and each day in collective worship we say the prayer of St Angela

‘O my God.

We offer you this lesson for your greater honour and glory.

Holy Guardian Angel watch over us.

St. Ursula pray for us.

 Sacrament of Reconciliation

During Advent and Lent, all pupils and staff are given the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Weekly Mass

Each Friday students and staff are invited to attend 8am Mass at our parish church Our Ladye Star of the Sea, led by Fr Kevin our parish priest. It is a wonderful opportunity to gather as a school community in God’s presence.

Ursuline Links

St Ursula’s as an Ursuline School has strong links to the worldwide network of Ursuline Schools. We regularly link with other local and international Ursuline Schools sharing our faith, learning and experiences.

Sr Kathleen the Ursuline provincial comes in once a month to run Ursuline links with year 11. This group is all about living out SERVIAM and so far this year they have held a collection for the local food bank and written Christmas cards to give out at a local care home.
